Big Woods Loop

Big Woods Trail

Distance: 9.1 miles

Trails: Big Woods, Lone Tree Road and Cedar Valley Lakes

Within moments of downtown Cedar Falls, explore a wooded wetland area interlaced with small quarry lakes and abundant wildlife before emerging at Big Woods Lake. You then have a decision to make: go around the lake or head to Black Hawk Park? Either way, make sure you visit the Cedar Falls Rotary Club's prairie restoration where interpretive signs identify tall grasses and colorful prairie flowers. If it's on to Black Hawk Park, you will cycle along open spaces and residential areas, the forested bank of the Cedar River, past Cottage Row's summer homes, and through lovely Island Park on your return to downtown Cedar Falls.
