(Little Prairie Girl, Cedar Falls)
Vintage shopping is unique, nothing like shopping the big-box stores that offer multiples of an item on one shelf. When shopping for antiques and vintage items you have to search several shops and look behind items and into cupboards and boxes to find that special something for your home. We suggest you take your time shopping (perhaps even for an extended weekend), bring along a friend and embrace your vintage soul.
We have a full list of antique shops on our website for you to review and to add to your “shopping” cart if you’re planning a weekend (see our Travel Pack), but we can’t resist telling you a little more about a few of them.
What will you find in this renovated barn? Upstairs from their store filled with locally made items and specialty foods (and their coffee shop), you’ll find antiques and primitives. Filled with mason jars, vintage linens and antique housewares, we think you may find just what you need to set up your vintage, farmhouse kitchen.

Antique Spectacular & Vintage Market
March 16-18, 2018
UNI-Dome, Cedar Falls
The term “spectacular” is not an exaggeration. There is no doubt that if you have an antique or vintage item in mind, you’ll find it here. This show at the UNI-Dome holds more than 150 exhibitors and they aren’t selling rusty finds that need a little TLC. They're selling antique candy molds, antique photos, furniture, jewelry, sporting goods and curiosities that remind you of your visits to your grandmother and great grandmother's house. For those who love antiques and vintage, this is a can’t-miss event and worth spending the day (or two). So, be sure to plan your vintage-rusty-antique shopping spree for an entire weekend.
March 24 & 25, 2018
Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, Waterloo
More than 60 vendors will turn the convention center into a “re-purposed paradise and a sea of antiques.” You’ll find rustic, antique and vintage finds as well as items converted for a new purpose such as suitcases into dog beds and glass jars into light fixtures.
Calico’s Vintage Flea Market
1022 Alabar Avenue, Waterloo
Calico Hen House in Waterloo is full of small, individual antique shops throughout the year. But, in August, 40 additional dealers fill outdoor space for their annual vintage flea market. Coffee and rolls are available in the morning and pulled pork and brats at lunch so you can spend the day shopping for unique finds. 2018 will mark their 32nd year and we’ll add their date here when it’s been announced.
