Soon, temperatures will rise, the kids will be out of school and you'll get to enjoy concerts in the warm summer air. With that in mind, we've compiled a list of concerts taking place in June 2017. Mark your calendar and dream of the warm sunny days ahead!
1. Friday’loo, May 12 – September 1
This is a “T.G.I.F party” that kicks the weekend off right! Stop by Lincoln Park in Waterloo between 5:30 and 9:30 pm beginning in May and grab dinner from one of the food trucks and enjoy live music. Live music is free!
2. RiverLoop Rhythms, May 26 - August 25
The RiverLoop Amphitheatre and the Waterloo Center for the Arts invite you to the 2017 season of RiverLoop Rhythms in Waterloo! Enjoy a series of family-friendly concerts throughout the summer and let the kids play at Mark’s Park (splash pad and play structure). Live music is free!
3. Live to 9, June 2 – July 28
Want to wrap up your work week with live music? The Live to 9 season for 2017 begins Friday, June 2, with STACKHOUSE at Sturgis Park in Cedar Falls. Gates open at 5:30 pm and the evening’s band plays 6-9 pm. Check their website for a list of all the musicians performing this year's Live to 9. The concerts are free!

4. wcfsymphony Concert: Broadway! June 3
The wcfsymphony is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Waterloo Community Playhouse with music under the stars at the RiverLoop Amphitheatre in Waterloo. The evening's performance will include the music of West Side Story, Porgy & Bess, and other Broadway classics. The venue is a beautiful setting along the waterfront. Come early to purchase your supper from local food vendors. Tickets can be purchased through the wcfsymphony.
5. Cedar Falls Municipal Band, June 6, 13, 20, 27 and July 4, 11, 18 and 25
2017 is the season of “Marching Along” with the Cedar Falls Municipal Band, one of Iowa’s oldest concert bands. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy an evening of music under the shady trees of Overman Park in Cedar Falls. Concerts begin at 7:30 pm. Free!
6. Cedar Valley Acoustic Guitar Association and Movies Under the Moon, June 2 & 16, July 7 & 21 and August 4 & 18
The 2017 movies have been announced! Families always look forward to Friday evenings when it means a trip to Overman Park in Cedar Falls to watch a movie under the moon. Movies begin at dusk, but arrive early with your lawn chair and blanket to enjoy music from the Cedar Valley Acoustic Guitar Association at 6:30 pm. Visit the Cedar Falls Community Main Street website for a list of all the movies showing this summer. Free!
7. Cedar Basin Jazz Festival, June 23 - 25
The Sturgis Park stage in Cedar Falls will be filled with the sounds of Dixieland jazz, rock/folk and a little ragtime during The Cedar Basin Jazz Festival. And if one venue wasn’t enough, bands will be playing throughout the weekend at NewAldaya in Cedar Falls, too. Visit their website to see the who, when and where of this year's festival. Free!

8. Sturgis Falls Celebration, June 23 - 25
There's always great music at the Sturgis Falls Celebration and they have four stages of entertainment. And, it's all free. As the sun goes down, enjoy the Camp Lejeune Marine Concert Band at Overman Park in Cedar Falls June 24, at Sturgis Park (Cedar Basin Jazz Festival) or head to Gateway Park. Other 2017 bands such as Sixteen Candles and The Pork Tornadoes. Visit their website for updates. Closer to the celebration, the Cedar Falls Visitor Center will have the Sturgis Falls Celebration programs available to pick up. All concerts (and the program) are free!
9. My Waterloo Days, June 7 - 11
People in the Park, the parade, bubble soccer, and fireworks are popular at My Waterloo Days. But in 2017, My Waterloo Days will celebrate with new events and venues like Movies on the Cedar, Music on the Cedar and a lighted boat parade. You'll find bands at People in the Park and Music on the Cedar. Purchase a $3 button from businesses in Cedar Falls and Waterloo. It will get you into all the events. Be sure to check their Facebook page for announcements.
