Celebrate Historic Preservation Month
on Tuesday, May 17, 2016
May is Historic Preservation Month and we’re celebrating with a historic walking tour and photo scavenger hunt of downtown Cedar Falls!
To join the hunt, simply download the scavenger hunt form, take a walk downtown and identify the 17 photos of architectural details of buildings located in and around downtown.
In 1973, the National Trust for Historic Preservation established May as Preservation Month. And throughout the country, historic destinations plan events that instill community pride, promote heritage tourism and show the social and economic benefits of historic preservation.
Cedar Falls invites you to take part in this national celebration by heading downtown with friends and family to see what historic preservation has done for Cedar Falls. Pick up a scavenger hunt form from Bike Tech, the Cedar Falls Historical Society, the Cedar Falls Public Library, the Community Main Street office, Oster Regent Theatre, Scratch Cupcakery or the Cedar Falls Visitor Center. Or, download a form HERE. Then, take a walk downtown, following the yellow arrows on the form, and correctly identify all the buildings. When you’re finished, drop off your form before June 3 at one of the participating locations we just mentioned.
All correct entries will be entered into a drawing for $50 in Oster Regent Theatre Drama Dollars, a $50 Community Main Street gift certificate, a $20 Tourism & Visitors Bureau gift certificate, a copy of Images of Modern America: Cedar Falls and a set of Architecture Legos.
