When the 4th of July holiday lands on a Tuesday, you get to celebrate for days!
In the Cedar Valley, enjoy the Mayor’s Independence Day Festival on July 1. Communities within a short drive of Cedar Falls will also be celebrating with festivals, many celebrating July 1 through July 4.
Waterloo, July 1
Enjoy the Mayor's Independence Day Festival at the RiverLoop Amphitheatre in Waterloo with music from a variety or artists including Bob Dorr & The Iowa Blues All-Stars at 6pm, the wcfsymphony at 7:30pm, and then Kevin Burt & The Corridor at 9pm. At 10pm, enjoy fireworks over the river. It’s a FREE evening of patriotic classics and fireworks!
We’d also like to mention that the Cedar Valley Pedal Fest will also be taking place July 1 and 2. Their bike rides are FREE and one of their 14 rides, Ride To the Rhythm, is a 7.5 mile bike ride from Gateway Park in Cedar Falls to the festival and back. A helmet and lights on your bike are mandatory. Pack a light blanket for sitting outdoors.
Independence, July 1-4
In the city of Independence, the community celebrates for days! Join them July 1-4 as they celebrate with racing at the Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday, the Chamber’s 4th of July Breakfast on Sunday and their Riverwalk Parks Celebration on Monday and Tuesday.
The Riverwalk Parks Celebration includes a Kid’s Fun Zone, Bags Tournament and the music of Lonesome Road and Resurrection on Monday. On 4th of July, their Riverwalk Parks Celebration begins at 9am with the 157th Annual Independence Day Parade followed by the Reading of the Declaration and live entertainment throughout the day, culminating in their fireworks display at 10 pm.
