Pink Ribbon Run 2016 will be held October 1 starting at MUDD Advertising in Cedar Falls.

The Cedar Valley is full of walks, runs and rides throughout the spring and summer. Autumn is no exception. In October, register for the Pink Ribbon Run/Walk, the Cedar Valley Fall Endurance Festival or Spooks, Spokes, Sneakers & Cycles to name a few.  

It’s time to hit the pavement to support local causes and meet your fitness goals!  


Pink Ribbon Run

The 10th Annual Pink Ribbon Run takes place Saturday, October 1. PLEASE NOTE that the event will start at MUDD Advertising at 915 Technology Parkway in Cedar Falls instead of downtown Cedar Falls. Although online registration has closed, you can still register in person at packet-pick-up on Friday, September 30, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Cedar Falls Community Center or at 7:00 am on race day at MUDD Advertising. The Beyond Pink TEAM uses race proceeds to help women and men cover expenses caused by a breast cancer diagnosis. Funds also help the Young Cancer Survivors Support Group.

W.O.W. Ride to Support Breast Cancer Awareness is October 5, 2016, in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

This is a family-friendly group ride. Wear PINK. Prizes will be awarded to the best 3 costumes! All registration fees go directly to our local Beyond Pink Team. The goal of the Ride is not only to raise funds for breast cancer research, but unite local communities in the effort to raise AWARENESS of the importance of breast health in a fun, supportive environment.

Spooks, Spokes, Sneakers & Cycles

Halloween Bike Ride, Powder Fun Run and Motorcycle poker run! This run/walk and ride event is suitable for all skill levels and the public is welcome to attend. Costumes encouraged!
As of September 29, plans are still in place for the race to start and end at Gateway Park in Cedar Falls. Double check their website for updates.

Cedar Valley Fall Endurance Festival is October 8, 2016, in Cedar Falls, Iowa and includes 8k, 25k and 50k trail races as well as a mountain bike race. Live music downtown Cedar Falls, too!

Come join the fun and bring the whole crew for the first annual Fall Endurance Festival. Event includes trail races of 8K, 25K, and 50K as well as a mountain bike marathon race of approximately 40 miles (or 4 hours) starting at noon. Kids also have a free Fun Run and Strider Bike Course. Public is welcome to listen to the live bands downtown and enjoy some activities for the kids.

Registration fee: $30 for mountain bike race. Trail races: 8K $20, 25K $30 and 50K is $50.

3rd Annual Bark for Life

The American Cancer Society Bark for Life is a noncompetitive walk event for dogs and their owners to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. Bring your best canine friend and join us for a fun-filled day starting with a walk, and then continuing with demonstrations, contests, and games.

2k Dog Walk Benefit

Bring your dog to the University of Northern Iowa Campanile for a dog walk around campus. Proceeds benefit the Cedar Bend Humane Society. Registration will include some treats for your pup, a cookie from J’s Homestyle Cooking and a bottle of water.

ROC Fit Challenge 5K Run/Walk

5K starts at Pfeiffer Park, then to Washington Park, Gateway Park and back to Pfeiffer Park. Race sponsor is ROC Training Center/ROC Gym in Waterloo.

4th Annual Trick or Trot 5K & 1-Mile Fun Run

Whether you’re a serious runner or a Halloween fanatic, the Trick or Trot has something for the whole family! Highlights include the 5K, 1 Mile Fun Run, games and a costume contest.

15th Annual Grant Wheeler Faith 5K

Family-oriented 5K run/walk is held in memory of Grant Wheeler and raises funds for area high school scholarships.

University of Northern Iowa Cheerleading 5K

The UNI Cheerleading Squad will be hosting their 1st annual 5K Run/Walk! Please join us on October 29th to participate in a Fun Run/Walk to support the UNI Cheer Team. After the 5K we will encourage all to visit the tailgate and attend the UNI Football Game against North Dakota State at 6:00pm to see the panthers off to victory!

Indee Zombie 5K is October 29, 2016, in Independence, Iowa.

Indee Zombie Run, 5K Obstacle Course

The Indee Zombie Run is just your typical hometown 5k. That is, if your hometown is infested with zombies. Soon enough, the Buchanan County Fair Grounds will be filled with brain-eating zombies. As you run the 3.1 miles through the once peaceful grounds, the undead are ready to chase you down. And, if you’re not fast enough, you can trust some will find a tasty snack…your brain.

Waverly Heritage Days Glow Walk/Run

Glow and run! Waverly Heritage Days is holding a fundraiser for their 2017 festival. Registration includes a t-shirt (if registered before October 19), a few glow sticks, spaghetti dinner and a costume party for participants. Course is approximately 2.65 miles and held rain or shine.

Registration fee: $30 for first person in group and $20 for each additional person
