Cedar Valley Gospel Music Festival Brings Music, Message, Family Fun

The Chuck Wagon Gang will appear July 16, 2016, at the Cedar Valley Gospel Music Festival in Cedar Falls, Iowa

The Chuck Wagon Gang

The twang of an old guitar, the crowd clapping and singing along with old standards, a message of hope proclaimed in flawless four-part harmony. This is the spirit of gospel music, and it’s coming to Cedar Falls July 13-16!

The Riverview Conference Center at 439 N Division Street in Cedar Falls will be hosting four days jam-packed with incredible gospel music. The event known for a decade as “Praise Fest” is returning with the same tradition of excellent music and an updated name: Cedar Valley Gospel Music Festival.

The Lesters will appear July 15, 2016, at the Cedar Valley Gospel Music Festival in Cedar Falls, Iowa

The Lesters

The lineup of musicians includes groups from all over the US including Washington, Indiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Texas, and Ohio; but they are all inspired, no matter their origin, by the southern sounds of gospel. Anyone searching for the slide of a steel guitar or the shake of a tambourine is sure to be satisfied with the downhome sounds of groups like The Hoppers, Down Home Family, Chuck Wagon Gang, and many others.

For many of these musicians, it’s truly a family affair. From groups like Restored, a trio of husband, wife, and daughter; to The Sneed Family, comprised of husband, wife, three sons, and one daughter-in-law; you’ll see parents, sons and daughters, spouses, and in-laws all singing together. What brings them together is a love for gospel music, its tradition, and its message.

In the past, the event has drawn attendees from as far as California, Colorado, and Arizona, as well as our neighbors from Wisconsin, Missouri and Minnesota. Attendance can range from 600 to 800 concert-goers a day, and the schedule of events begins on Wednesday, July 13 at 6:30 pm. For the remaining three days, the concerts and activities will start at 9:00 am and last until 7:20 pm daily. In addition to the fantastic music, on Thursday there will be a women’s luncheon with speakers Shelly and Michaela Brown and an arts and crafts show and bake sale.
