You’ve driven by often. You’ve seen the statue of the Horse and Rider. You’ve seen the electronic message board flashing the titles of several events. But the Cedar Falls Visitor Center is just for visitors and you haven’t stopped in, right?

The Cedar Falls Visitor Center has several amenities that are for you and for visitors. Here are just 5 things you may not know about the Cedar Falls Visitor Center.

1) We have a gift shop!

If you’re looking for postcards, t-shirts, cookbooks and souvenirs of Cedar Falls or Iowa, we may have what you’re looking for. They make perfect gifts for friends, or you!

2) We’re a trailhead of the Cedar Valley Trail system.

Many of the cars you see parked at the visitor center belong to those taking walks with pets, out for a morning stroll with a friend or taking a bike ride with the kids after dinner. The Prairie Lakes Trail is about 1.3 miles long and the Prairie Lakes Loop is 10.2 miles long. We have more than 100 miles of scenic trails, so you can plan your own bike adventure. Just stop in at the visitor center and pick up a free Cedar Valley Trails & Recreation Guide.

3) We’re home to a native prairie.

Enjoy a picnic on the patio and admire what’s in bloom. Visit often. The Compass Plant may be in bloom or it might be our Purple Prairie Clover or Butterfly Milkweed. The view changes often!

4) We have rental space.

For your next business meeting, bridal shower, luncheon or graduation open house, we may have the place for you. The visitor center is open seven days a week so it’s easy to rent our conference room when it’s convenient for you. We can accommodate a sit-down meeting for up to 30 people.

5) And, we have wonderful volunteers to help you!

Our volunteers are second to none. They know all about Cedar Falls and happily greet visitors, answering questions about our city’s events and attractions, giving directions and making the Cedar Falls Visitor Center a great place to visit.
