With the start of spring, The Cedar Valley begins preparations for National Tourism Month in May.

You can participate by nominating an outstanding local business, organization, event or attraction for The Attraction of the Year, Event of the Year, Restaurant of the Year, Lodging Establishment of the Year and/or Business/Organization of the Year.*

Nominating a business is quick and easy! Simply email the name, contact information and a short description of 25-50 words to Annette@travelwaterloo.com by MARCH 31, 2015.

You may nominate more than one business or organization and in more than one category. Your business can also nominate itself…and that’s encouraged!

Honorees will be selected through a three-step process, beginning with nominations. In April, the public will be invited to vote online using a ballot produced with the nominations we receive. If your event, attraction or business is not nominated, it will not appear on the ballot. In May, our honorees will be announced at our annual Tourism Month celebration.

Here is a description of each of the categories:
Attraction of the Year: A local attraction that substantially contributed to the local tourism industry by bringing in a significant number of visitors and enhanced the quality of life in our community.

Event of the Year: A hallmark event or festival that created significant economic impact, attracted substantial out-of-town visitors, generated positive media attention, and/or positively promoted the Cedar Valley as a visitor destination.

Restaurant of the Year: A restaurant that exhibits excellence in service, a positive attitude and attentive staff, quality menu items, ambiance, and ability to provide visitors with a memorable dining experience.
