Things to Recap: College Hill Arts Festival

posted on Tuesday, July 24, 2012

This past weekend was the College Hill Arts Festival and it sure was a great one! As I promised, Rachel was out and about taking pictures of all the action. Between the music, art, and food it was a festival to remember. Although the festival is very impressive every year I felt as if this year they truly out did themselves. I was surprised and very happy with the rich diversity of art that was offered, not one thing was the same as the next. I went to three different photography booths and they all had their own very unique spin on the way they photographed everything around them.

I have not seen the list of winners yet, but I can probably guess who some of them will be. Of course everyone remembers the welder who creates life size animals…well this year was more of a whimsical outdoor square trellis…in the shape of a HUGE SPIDER! My favorite booth was a woman from Moline, Illinois, her take on folkart mirrors had me laughing and seriously considering changing my stingy college student budget to be able to buy the small square mirror with the quote “Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, I am my mother afterall!” There were amazing paintings, pottery, jewelry, hand stitched clothing, and folkart galore!
