January 7 thru April 1, 2012 - ODE: The Poet as Inspiration. Works in various media, created by regional artists, using Hearst's poetry as inspiration, are displayed in this selection from the permanent collection.
January 17 thru April 1, 2012 - Full Color: Large Paintings from the Collection. Large-scale works from the Hearst permanent collection.
March 18 thru November 25, 2012 - Workshop: The Hearst Goes Collegiate. Friends of the Hearst Student Exhibit and Sale.
April 13 thru May 13, 2012 - Developing Expressions. Features works by students from elementary and secondary schools in Cedar Falls. The emerging talent of young artists provides an impressive and diverse exhibition with works in all media.
May 27 thru August 29, 2012 - Esther Cheng: New Works in Watermedia. Brilliant works in watermedia made by the hand of adroit painter Esther Cheng are displayed in this farewell exhibition as the longtime Cedar Falls resident transitions to new views of California.

September 27, 2011 thru March 25, 2012 - The Golden Era of the Black Hawks: From McElroy Auditorium to Young Ice Arena. Visit the Grout Museum, during the 2011-2012 Golden Anniversary season of the Black Hawks, to discover the exciting history of Waterloo’s favorite home team. 
Thru April 28, 2012 - Privy to the Past: Collectors Showcase of Waterloo Bottles.
Thru December 30, 2012 - Forever Yours Your Own: Tales of Love From the Civil War.
During the Civil War, letters were often the only way for soldiers and loved ones stay in touch. Although sending letters was slow and unreliable, when in the hands of the recipient they were of great comfort. Original letters, photographs, artifacts and dioramas will help visitors learn about the day to day life of the Civil War soldier.
January 27 thru September 1, 2012 - Covered by Glory: Civil War Commemorative Quilts. This exhibit showcases several quilts. some that were made during the Civil War era and commemorative quilts that were made from ten to 150 years later. Photographs, archives and more enhance this exhibit remembering the Civil War.
April 3 thru July 14, 2012 - BESA: Albanian Muslims who Saved Jews During World War II, Photographs by Norman Gershman. In 2003, Norman Gershman, renowned photographer, embarked on a project to find and photograph Albanian nationals and refugees from neighboring countries, during World War II. By 2004, after two photographic journeys to Albania and Kosovo he had discovered roughly 150 Muslim families who had taken part in the rescue of the jews.

January 13 thru February 23, 2012 - Bill Will: Enchanted by Prairie. One of Iowa's premier landscape photographers, Witt will exhibit images of Iowa's native beauty featured in the recent monograph book, "Enchanted by Prairie," published by the University of Iowa Press. This is his first gallery exhibit.
March 9 thru April 13, 2012 - Alex Dooley: Bedtime Stories. Alex Dooley explores ephemeral aspects of romance and enchantment in our culture in this exhibit in our culture in this exhibit.
May 1, 2012 thru May 27, 2012 - Wartburg Senior Students Art Exhibit.
