  All levels of runners, walkers and bikers are welcome to join Scheels associates at the front of the store to head out on the Cedar Prairie Trail. Helmets are required for bikers. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
   
 

Friday, August 9, 2013

  7 p.m. Friday Night Loops, Overman Park
  220 Clay Street
  Join the Cedar Valley Cyclists to learn tips on safe cycling, then ride throughout Cedar Falls on its bicycle-friendly streets.
   
  9 p.m. Movies Under the Moon, Overman Park
  220 Clay Street
  Enjoy an outdoor showing of the film Gremlins at Overman Park, featuring a free bicycle valet provided by Bike Tech.

  Enjoy the sounds of Bob Dorr and the Blue Band at Live to Nine.  Music, food, beer and friends.

  7 a.m. 5K-Nine Doggie Run/Walk, Gateway Park
  Start off your morning with a run/walk in the company of your dog along the scenic Big Woods Lake Trail. For the "smaller" dogs that can't quite go the distance, there will be a 1 1/2K walk available. Event proceeds will benefit several pet rescues in the Cedar Valley area. Registration includes a goodie bag and is $15 before August 1, $20 after. 
  9 a.m. - 1p.m. Cedar Valley Pet Fest LLC, Gateway Park
  Bring your pets and enjoy the trails on foot! This event raises awareness and money for animal rescues in the area and you'll also learn how to meet your pet's needs by knowledgeable veterinarians, trainers and groomers.
  10 a.m. Tour de Valley Ride, Gateway Park
  Bring the little ones for the 5 mile Family Fun Ride, choose the 25 mile Recreation Ride, or gear up for the 40 mile Explorer's Ride, all starting at Gateway Park. Each registered rider will be eligible to win Scheels gift cards!
  1:30 p.m. Dirty Ride, Mulligan's Brick Oven Grill & Pub
  205 E. 18th Street
  Explore the Cedar Valley's soft trail system and get a little dirty! Bring your mountain bike and enjoy some single track fun through the woods, gullies and floodways of the Cedar River Valley.
  5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. Bicycle Safety Rodeo, Gateway Park
  Test your cycling safety skills with local park rangers and law enforcement officers. There will be free bike inspections to make sure your ride is in top condition!
  7 p.m. - 10 p.m. Light Up the Night Ride, Gateway Park
  Gather before dusk to enjoy the pre-ride music of Fat Cat. At dusk, experience a magical 9-mile bike ride along trails lined with glow sticks under moonlit skies.  A three to four mile family ride designated for the youngsters and their families will begin at 8 p.m.

  11 a.m. Poker Ride, Mulligan's Brick Oven Grill & Pub
  205 E. 18th Street
  Draw your cards from merchants near the trails and bring them back to Mulligan's where prizes will be awarded to the riders with the best hands. Registration takes place at 11am and the cost is $15 or $10 if you have a 2013 festival t-shirt.
