Iowa is a hotspot for biking enthusiasts! With more than 1,800 miles of biking trails, biking is a pretty great way to explore Iowa, especially when it comes to Cedar Falls. The award-winning Cedar Valley Trails system invites riders to bike more than 110 miles of trails along the river, through the woods and even to our vibrant downtown district! The trails also play host to numerous biking events for all ages and skill levels throughout the year.
Speaking of biking, the fifth annual Fondo Cedar Valley is just around the corner and has taken its bicycle endurance hat and traded it in for a party ride… think mini RAGBRAI. Fondo will take place August 17, 2019 in the Cedar Falls Downtown District with a 62-mile route or a double loop if you so choose. The route will take you throughout the surrounding small communities of Janesville, Finchford, New Hartford, Stout and Dike.
You’ll be met by the Iowa Beer Bus at the first stop in Janesville and then again in Stout. The Iowa Beer Bus is just as you picture it, a bus with beer tappers on it. They are excited to be on the ride and they are sure to take the fun to the next level.
Registration for the ride is available until event day on the Fondo Cedar Valley website. Register early so you are guaranteed an awesome swag bag, including a commemorative slap koozie, t-shirt and cooling towel. The value of the swag bag is worth signing up for the ride.
Whether you ride the Fondo or you just support those that do everyone should join us for the party portion of Fondo. The beer, food and music will start about 5:00 in Overman Park with DJ Jumpsuit spinning tunes between The Diplomats and The Nadas.
