Spooktacular events and haunts are taking place in October 2021

Scarecrow’s Haunted Barn, Haunted Cornfield, hayrides, Punkin Playland, The Punkinator, Tree House Tube Slide, farm animals and the Giant Jumping Pillow!

The Heart of Darkness Haunted Complex
Dying for a good time? Face your fears at The Heart of Darkness! They have thirteen themed areas including Scream in the Dark, House of Evil Dead, Claustrophobia Black Out Maze, Salem’s Coven, Haunting of Hell House, Zombie CDC, Crypt Keepers Vault, Creeper’s Bus, Goblins Lair, Darkhold Castle, Grizzly’s Chainsaw Massacre and Jack-o-Lantern Lane. One is 3D Killer Circus!

KW Paintball Halloween Zombie Shoot
This is where the undead reside and the humans try to survive! Visitors take a ride on the custom trailers through the paintball park taking out zombies that lurk throughout with 100 zombie killing rounds.

Waterhawks Haunted Hayride
Waterhawks Ski Team presents its annual Haunted Hayride fundraiser beginning October 8! Come out to Eagle Lake to experience the thrill of a Haunted Hayride with family, friends, and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate. Double check their Facebook page, Waterhawks, for updates.

The Core’s Halloween Comic Fest

10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The Core’s Halloween Comic Fest is suitable for all ages. Receive one free comic book, get your photo taken with The Core's cast of characters between 10:00am-1:00pm, meet guest artists and join the costume contest that begins at 1:00pm!

Strolling with the Spirits
3:30 p.m. or 7 p.m., reservations required
Fairview Cemetery in Waterloo
Stroll through the paths of the Cedar Valley’s past as actors bring former residents back to life through live, historical interpretation.  Hosted by the Grout Museum District, visit their Facebook page to purchase tickets.

October 9 – October 23, 2021
Saturdays 1:30–3:30 p.m.
Just in time for Halloween! Bring to life your very own spook-inspired beer stein. Learn how to hand build a traditional stein and experiment with sculptural applique features. Enjoy a beverage of your choice from your stein while celebrating with classmates at the last session. Must be 21+ to sample beer (additional refreshments provided). Adult class. Fee: $32($28) + $5 clay fee

National Cattle Congress Pavilion
It's going to be a scary good time at the Waterloo Exchange Club's Halloween Dance. There will be dancing, a costume contest, appetizers, games, prizes and a cash bar. For ages 21+. Tickets are $20/person.

Downtown Waverly
Kids can trick-or-treat at participating downtown merchants.

October 29
Trick-or-Treat in the District
3:30 – 5:00 pm
Cedar Falls Downtown District
Merchants will be outside their shops for young trick or treaters!

October 30
Trick or Treat Downtown Waterloo
100 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Children can enjoy trick-or-treating at shops in downtown Waterloo. This is a family-friendly event with a Kids’ Haunted House in the Black’s Building and a fall-themed photo booth at the Main Street Waterloo Office.
