More than half of all Americans are leaving vacation time on the table each year. In 2017, 25.7 percent of vacation days were unused by Iowans.
To encourage more Americans to use their vacation days, the U.S. Travel Association has started an initiative called Plan for Vacation Day which takes place on January 29, 2019. The intent of this day is to reverse the trend of American workers taking fewer vacation days and encouraging them to commit to when and where they'll travel in 2019.
“There’s so much to do, and so little time.” This is often the reason why many of us don’t take advantage of all our days off. According to the U.S. Travel Association, the secret to planning your vacations for 2019 is planning. Project: Time Off says that 52 percent of workers who set aside time each year to plan for travel take all their time off, compared to just 40 percent of non-planners. Planners also tend to take longer vacations.
- Determine how much time off you have earned
- Coordinate your calendar with family and co-workers
- Share your plans with your supervisor (and family!)
We also have tools to help you plan a trip to Cedar Falls. Our Tools for Travel include our Trip Planner/Travel Pack, the digital version of our visitor guide (our 2019 guide just arrived at the Cedar Falls Visitor Center ), sample itineraries, and maps.
Our Travel Pack is a unique tool. It allows you to add attractions, restaurants and hotels to your pack for reference later. It’s easy to plan a family holiday, business meeting and family reunion with this tool because you can share your list by email or print your list. As you peruse the lists of attractions, restaurants, museums and hotels on our website, you’ll notice a small suitcase icon at the bottom of every listing. Simply click the suitcase to add it to your Travel Pack. When you're ready to share or print your list, click the "My Travel Pack" at the top of our webpage.
