Dine out Thanksgiving Day (2018)


Need some ideas for a low-key Thanksgiving? Would you like to dine in or pick up? Either way, it's a great way to enjoy your day without doing the dishes! Check out the following list of options and restaurants open Thanksgiving day, 2022.


DINNER

Fox Ridge Golf Club 
355 Country Club Lane, Dike
11:00 am - 3:00 pm (seating times vary)
Reserve a time to dine between 11:00 am – and 3:00 pm. The traditional menu includes turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and stuffing. Sides include rolls, creamed corn, green bean casserole, and cranberries. Dessert includes pumpkin, French silk or apple pie. $26/adult and $12/child age 6-12 and 5 & under are FREE. Reservations must be made by Monday, November 21.

Hy-Vee

Hy-Vee offers premade holiday dinners to serve 2 to 12 people. Choose from their a la carte menu or from a selection of dinners that include side dishes and desserts. Simply reheat and serve. Order ahead by visiting their website as they are closed Thanksgiving Day.

J’s Homestyle Cooking

Dinner special, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Enjoy a luncheon special of turkey or ham with mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, dinner roll and pumpkin pie for dessert for $14.99/adult dine-in and $15.99 take-out, $7.99/child (ages 10 and under). J’s opens at 7:00 am for breakfast and closes at 2:00 pm. Dinner is available as a carryout order, too!

Village Inn

Order off the menu or choose their Thanksgiving dinner special for $15.99/adult and $7.99/child (under 10 years of age). Their eat-in dinner special includes hand-carved turkey breast or grilled ham steak, honey-glazed carrots, stuffing, a biscuit, mashed potatoes with gravy. It's also served with a slice of pumpkin pie!  Just need dessert? Click HERE to order pies in advance. Dine in, carryout and delivery are available.

ACTIVITIES

Cranksgiving
November 12, 2022
Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. Part bike ride, part food drive, part scavenger hunt, it has been held annually in Cedar Falls since 2009. Visit their registration page or the day of at 10:30am at George's Local. 
  

Turkey Trot
November 24, 2022
"Turkeys" of all ages are welcome to join the fun! There will be a 5K, Kids Dash for those ages 10 and younger, and a 1-mile fun run. Visit their registration page.
 

And, take time to hike and bike our Cedar Valley Trails. We have more than 100 miles of trails in a series of loops for you to enjoy! Pick up a Cedar Valley Trails & Recreation Guide at area hotels or kiosks or pick up a map in the vestibule of the Cedar Falls Visitor Center.
