on Thursday, November 29, 2018
Grab your scarf and mittens! It’s time to head out to our area’s 2018 holiday light displays. Set the radio dial to holiday music and pack your hot cocoa. The displays are a no-fail way of getting into the holiday spirit and they’re all within a half-hour drive of the Cedar Valley!
Kersten Holiday Light Display
November 22 – December 26
5598 22nd Avenue Trail, Vinton
Heidi Kersten carrys on the family tradition that her father began more than 50 years ago of lighting their family farm. Thanks to the community of Vinton and friends who supported the family this year with repairs to the display so it could continue to twinkle in 2018.
Holiday lights shine from dusk until 9:30 pm weekdays and 10:00 pm on weekends. Their display will open at 5:00 pm on Thanksgiving day.
(Located about three miles northwest of Vinton on the blacktop that connects Vinton and Mount Auburn)
Prospect Light Show
November 23 – December 31
1056 Prospect Boulevard, Waterloo (just south of Ridgeway Avenue)
The Prospect Light show for 2018 is ready! Their display includes 16 snowflakes, 4 talking ree faces, 1 talking snowman, 24 trees of various sizes, 2 starbursts and lights on the house. Actually, 32,000 lights!
The 30 minute light display is synchronized to music so be sure to tune to 103.9 on your car radio. Please be courteous of others when you visit. Please do not block driveways and dim your lights.
Nightly, November 23 – January 1
103 Elaisen Avenue, Waverly
Since 2001, the Wiechmann family home has been decorated for the holidays. Today, it’s bigger and brighter! In addition to their light display, five songs are a part of their display. The family also collects donations for the St Jude Children’s Hospital, raising thousands of dollars for the hospital over the past several years.
Lights shine Sunday – Thursday, 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm and Friday and Saturday, 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm.
