35th Annual College Hill Arts Festival Changed Their Dates
on Friday, May 31, 2013
WE ARE MOVING – To June! The 35th Annual College Hill Arts Festival will be held June 14 – 15 2013 in its usual spot on the UNI Campus!”
We invite you to join us for the 35th annual College Hill Arts Festival which will be held June 14-15, 2013 on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa at the shady corner of College and 23rd Streets. The College Hill Arts Festival has been named to Sunshine Artist magazine’s list of ‘Best Fine Arts & Design Shows’ in the United States for four of the past five years. Also, the Festival was named the 2006 Event of the Year by the Cedar Valley Tourism Bureaus.
In 2013 three independent judges (new each year) use a blind jury process to select 75 talented artists to fill the Festival with high quality art that demonstrates original design and unique representation of the chosen medium. These jury selected artists will exhibit and sell their original artwork at the Festival in categories including jewelry, sculpture, painting, pastel, ceramics, graphics/printmaking, mixed media, fiber, photography, glass, and wood.
Complimenting the artists' exhibits will be a variety of musical groups performing on stage; a hands-on creative activity for children sponsored by the Hearst Center for the Arts; and the Young Art Collectors Gallery which features original artwork created by exhibiting artists with prices of $10 or less and encourages children [ages 14 & under] to make independent choices about art. There will also be a variety of food vendors to entice Festival attendees. Picnic tables will be located near the food booth and the Performing Arts Stage. And, our trademark balloon arches add to the festivities!
For the 28th consecutive year, internationally recognized artist, Gary Kelley, will design the Festival poster. Kelley’s limited edition collector's posters for the 2009, the 2010, and the 2011 Festival all received “Best in Category” awards from Sunshine Artist magazine in their Annual Show Poster Contests. The results of the 2012 contest will be announced in mid-2013.
On behalf of the College Hill Arts Festival board members, our countless volunteers, and corporate sponsors we look forward to seeing you at the 35th College Hill Arts Festival on June 14 and 15 2013!
