The Design (in the Artist's words) "I am a frequent user of our many miles of recreational trails and believe they are among the Cedar Valley's best amenities. In addition, the Cedar River enhancements underway will create more opportunities, and highlight Cedar Falls. I wanted to promote the trails by featuring a map of the paved and water trails to give people an idea of how vast they are"
About the Artist With a lifelong passion for art and creativity, Mary is primarily a self-taught artist who thrives on learning new techniques and experimenting with different mediums. Her true happiness lies in the freedom of creativity. Lately, she's been delving into mixed media, using encaustic, acrylics, and collage. In fact, she even taught a collage class in January. Mary enjoys repurposing found objects and combining various elements to create works that captivate and intrigue viewers. As a University of Iowa graduate, Mary fondly recalls the Herky statues scattered throughout Iowa City. Since 2012, she's been a proud resident of Cedar Falls and saw this project as an exciting way to generate enthusiasm for the city and promote UNI. She revels in creative challenges, finding them both different and enjoyable. Interestingly, despite her artistic pursuits, Mary's career spanned over 30 years in banking and mortgage servicing—an ironic match for this TC Mascot's sponsor Community Bank and Trust.
