Biking and Running Traditions at Thanksgiving

Cranksgiving is Saturday, November 16, 2019

Come together and share in some new (and active) Thanksgiving traditions. This week, on November 16, Bike tech will host Cranksgiving, an annual bike ride and fundraising event. On Thanksgiving Day, work out with a 1 mile or 5K run before Thanksgiving dinner at this year’s Turkey Trot.

Cranksgiving
November 16 2019

10:30 am – 2:30 pm
Meet at Mulligan’s Brick Oven (205 E 18th Street), Cedar Falls
Not only is it fun, Cranksgiving is an annual food drive on wheels…two wheels. Bike Tech has hosted Iowa’s longest running Cranksgiving event (since 2009). The bike ride is part scavenger hunt and part food drive. Bring your bike, a bag, a lock, and about $15-$20 to buy food. All the items you collect at stores will benefit the Northeast Iowa Food Bank and the Cedar Ben Humane Society.

Turkey Trot
November 28, 2019

8:15 – 10:15 am
Meet at Big Woods Lake (south side)
Make the annual Cedar Falls Turkey Trot part of your family’s Thanksgiving Day celebration. “Turkeys” of all ages are welcome to join the fun. There will be a Kids Dash for those ages 10 and younger, a 1-mile fun run and a chip-timed 5K run/walk. Threshold Pace Timing is hosting the event and they have recently announced an additional route for this year’s event that will make the run a little easier for those with strollers and walkers. They also have very good links to routes so be sure to click on the About AND the Discussion tab in their Facebook event to find all the details.

Stay active this holiday season! Mark your calendar for more fun runs such as the Winter Wonderloo 5K Fun Run (on roads only) on November 30, 2019 and the Frosty 5K Fun Run Walk on Dec 14.

Check out a calendar of all registered trail runs/rides at CedarTrailsPartnership.org.
