In 2022, the Cedar Valley and cities in the area will be celebrating Independence Day for days!

Check out all the celebrations and be sure to take note the day of the week fireworks will take place due to the 4th being on Monday. 

July 3 and 4, 2022

Independence Day Celebration
Independence, Iowa

The town of Independence knows how to celebrate! On Sunday, July 3, the Riverwalk Parks Celebration begins with live music from 42 Romeo at 5:00 pm. Then, it’s the 1.75 Iowa National Guard Fun Run, bags tournament and at 8:30 pm, enjoy Elton & Billy - The Tribute!

On Monday, July 4, the 161st Annual Independence Day Parade begins at 9:00 am followed by festivities at Riverwalk Parks. Afternoon fun will include a magic show and lots of live music from Throwback Jack, Schmidt Brothers and Not Quite Brothers. At 10:00 pm, enjoy fireworks over the Wapsipinicon River! 

July 1-4, 2022

Shell Rock 4th of July Celebration
Shell Rock, Iowa

Friday evening, July 1, includes a Kiddie Parade, Family Movie Night on main stage and music following the movie.

On Saturday, before heading to the celebration check out the city wide garage sales. Then enjoy the Kids Zone, bags tournament, pedal cars from Kids Cars & More and music by Redline.

Sunday in the park includes a pedal pull, Balloon Man, face painting, yard games, kids water ball, kick ball tournament and more. Cherry Street activities include the Kids Zone, bingo, music by Throw Back Jack and fireworks.

Monday, July 4, enjoy the parade, bingo, Relay for Life, Rock n Roll Event Main Stage and the Cutest Baby Contest.

July 2, 2022

Mayor’s Fireworks
Waterloo, Iowa

You won’t want to miss this! Waterloo’s 4th of July celebration includes two stages, two beer tents and two sets of food vendors! Live music will be kicked off with the Cedar Valley Big Band at 5:00 pm followed by the Union Baptist Church Crusaders at 6:15 pm, the wcfsymphony at 7:00 pm, Fusion Dance Performance at 8:00 pm, and 42 Romeo at 8:45 pm at the RiverLoop Amphitheatre. The second stage, located at the RiverLoop Expo Plaza, will include performances by the Waterloo Community Playhouse at 5:10 pm and Fusion Dance at 5:35 pm followed by live music from Heart Smith at 6:00 pm and Fool House at 8:00 pm. It all culminates with fireworks over the Cedar River at dusk (about 10:00 pm). And, the event is free.   

July 2 and 4, 2022

Waterloo Bucks Baseball
Waterloo, Iowa

The Waterloo Bucks will present a fireworks extravaganza following their 6:35 pm game on Saturday, July 2, against the Minnesota Mud Puppies and after their game on July 4 at 6:35 pm against the Duluth Huskies. 

July 2-4, 2022

4th of July Celebration
Dysart, Iowa

In Dysart City Park
The community of Dysart will celebrate Independence Day July 2-4! Their celebration includes the Dysart Lions Club Tenderloin Supper, kiddie parade and activities for the kids, Fireman’s Dance, the Firecracker 5K run/walk, the grand parade and fireworks.

July 3 and 4, 2022

Fourth of July Celebration
Reinbeck, Iowa

Their festivities kick off Sunday, July 3, with live music by the Pork Tornadoes at the Fireman's Dance on Main Street at 8:00 pm. Monday, July 4, activities include a 5K run/walk, Kids Dash, a fishing derby and Big Wheel Races in the morning. Shopping and food vendors will be open starting at 11:00 am. The day will also feature laser and water tag, inflatables, bingo, beer garden, petting zoo, trap shoot, and a magic show. Live music by Janey & the Growlerz will begin at 7:00 pm. All this is topped off with a fireworks display at 10:00 pm in Elmwood Park followed by a group sky lantern launch at the Legion Shelter House!

Cedar Falls Residents: Consumer Fireworks

Consumer fireworks ARE PERMITTED within the Cedar Falls city limits ONLY on July 3 and 5 from Noon-10:00 pm, and July 4 from Noon-11:00 pm. Learn more here.
