Independence Day Celebrations 2018

The Cedar Valley and surrounding communities are celebrating Independence Day 2018!


Waterloo, June 30

UPDATE: As of 6:15pm on Saturday, June 30th, fireworks, musical performances and ski shows have been cancelled due to storms. Waterloo is rescheduling fireworks for August 31 during RiverLoop Rhythms. 
The RiverLoop Amphitheatre in Waterloo will host the 2nd annual Mayor’s Independence Day Extravaganza on Saturday, June 30th. Beginning at 3:30 pm, enjoy performances by the Waterhawks throughout the evening and a variety of music from Cedar Valley Big Band, Milk & Honey, Sugarfoot and Kevin Burt. It all leads up to fireworks over the river after dusk!  There’s no admission fee and food, beer and wine will be available for purchase. Click HERE for more info. 
 

Independence, June 30 – July 4

In the city of Independence, the community celebrates for days! Join them June 30 – July 4 as they celebrate with racing at the Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday, a 4th of July Breakfast on Sunday and their Riverwalk Parks Celebration on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Riverwalk Parks Celebration on Tuesday includes music from 42 Romeo 34th Army Band (classic rock), the Cedar Wapsi Brothers, and Neon Circus. On 4th of July, their Riverwalk Parks Celebration begins at 9am with the 158th Annual Independence Day Parade followed by the Reading of the Declaration and live entertainment throughout the day, culminating in their fireworks display at 10:00 pm over the Wapsipinicon River. Shell Rock, June 30 – July 4

Shell Rock’s 4th of July festivities kick off on Saturday and run through the 4th of July! On June 30, take part in their 5K Splash Dash or visit their city-wide garage sales. On Sunday, kick back and enjoy the acoustic sounds of Mitch Lauer in the afternoon, along with lots of activities for the kids. On Tuesday, July 3, the fun continues in the afternoon with inflatables for the kids, beer tent, music of the Waverly Municipal band at 6pm and Beyond Silence at 8pm. On the 4th of July, there’s a parade at 10am, followed by cow chip bingo and other tournaments. At 8pm,  Travis Granberg performs and fireworks will be at 10pm (dusk). Reinbeck, July 3 - 4

Reinbeck's 4th of July festivities kick off Tuesday night, July 3, with Movie in the Park featuring “The Sandlot” and the Fireman’s Dance with the music of Milk & Honey at 9pm in the Memorial Building. On the 4th of July, activities include a fishing derby, bake sale, a Big Wheel race and kiddie parade, the Grand Parade at 1:30 pm, egg toss, petting zoo and the Jonathan Mays Magic Show. At 7pm enjoy the music of Janey and the Growlers in Elmwood Park with a fireworks display in the park at 10pm followed by Group Sky Lantern Launch by the Lion’s Shelter House. Dysart, July 3 - 4

The community of Dysart will celebrate Independence Day July 3 & 4! There’s a lot happening. Their celebration includes a Kiddie Parade, beer garden, food vendors, 5K run/walk, Grand Parade, Kiddie Tractor Pull, Cow Chip Bingo, a talent show and fireworks at dusk! Waterloo, July 4

Celebrate Independence Day with our local baseball team, the Waterloo Bucks! On Wednesday, July 4th, the Waterloo Bucks will take on the Willmar Stingers on the Cost Cutters Field at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo. Gates will open at 5:30 pm, the first pitch will be thrown at 6:35 pm and fireworks will follow the game. If you want to order your tickets online, click HERE.
