Craving Spring Sunshine and Warmer Temperatures?

For those of us with spring fever, dining outside at a local café or strolling through gardens overflowing with blooms are just dreams that will take weeks to come true. But, what if we could enjoy temperatures in the 80s, tropical blooms and Koi ponds this week, and only minutes from home?
We’re talking about a trip to the UNI Botanical Center in Cedar Falls. It’s located on the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) campus and is home to an orchid house, Koi pond, desert room and a tropical room. UNI students also utilize the classroom, research lab and research greenhouses.
The UNI Botanical Center is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm for self-guided tours (free of charge). Bring your lunch or snack, find a bench and enjoy a well-deserved break from the cold and wind. Be sure to check their calendar in April for the date of their Annual Spring Plant sale.
